Birdy, I mention it only because as I see it there is real possibility that your hearing loss is not radiation-induced.  (Or am I way off base?)

No, you are not off-base. Some people have radiation, and their hearing stays the same, or even improves. Others, like myself, have a chance of losing more hearing from the radiation, on top of the already loss of hearing before the treatments. It's kinda like a 1-2 punch, you know? But I knew what I was getting into when I chose radiation. And I'd do it again in a heartbeat, if I had to. Surgery is a horrible mess, with the patient living with more problems than when they went under the knife. Oh, the horror stories I've read! And one surgeon from Jefferson was sued for 1.2 million dollars for botching a surgery. The patient won.
