Yesterday I received an e-mail from the Tinnitus Association of Victoria (Australia) that mentioned a "traveling salesman" story I sometimes told in years past when I would give presentations on tinnitus to groups of health care professionals.  I just now located the complete text from one of those presentations and thought that some here might find it to be of interest:

Tinnitus - The Key to Success (doc)

Tinnitus - The Key to Success (pdf)

Best to all.

I think I know two ENT's, three general MD's and a couple of audiologist that I will print and mail this to.  Unless it is copyrighted.  Especially one ENT!

Tomorrow is the 5th. and I understand that this board will close.  It is with great sorrow that the only board that has this level of expertise is going to close.  It is with great hope and prayers that the medical problems of Dr. Nagler's immediate family will be satisfactorily resolved in short order.  It is also my Christmas wish that at sometime in the near future that Dr. Nagler will find the time to reopen this board.

It is also my Christmas wish that all of us will find the peace and quiet that we have all sought and some succeeding thanks to many on this board and especially to Dr. Nagler.

Good-bye all and my very best to each of you.

The situation is not at all good.  I greatly appreciate all the kind words and good thoughts.

CPW,

You said-
.....It is also my Christmas wish that at sometime in the near future that Dr. Nagler will find the time to reopen this board.

It is also my Christmas wish that all of us will find the peace and quiet that we have all sought and some succeeding thanks to many on this board and especially to Dr. Nagler.

I like those thoughts, and I know that sometimes- wishes do come true,
and I hope your best wishes will do just that.

you also say-
Good-bye all and my very best to each of you.

Sounds too permanent, I would say "until then" - hoping we will all meet again, hopefully here,
sometime soon or somewhere "down the road" a bit.

DrNagler says-

The additional time- is again, greatly appreciated. Thank You!

DrNagler,
May you and your family find peace and strength wherever and whenever you need it,

With best wishes for the best of all things possible, to you and your family,

I want to echo CPW's comments and aQB's sentiments.

That traveling salesman story pretty much sums up everything one needs to know in order to overcome intrusive tinnitus.

Thank you again, Dr. Nagler.

I enjoyed reading that Rob. It brings me back 9 months ago when I walked in for my first ENT appointment and the first thing I said was I am looking for a tall building to jump off of. The doctor's response, oh dear! The second ENT said you're hearing is fine, goodbye. Never even gave me the results of my audiogram. My PCP told me he had tinnitus once but it went away. Where were the life preservers?

I echo CPW's desire to send each of them a copy of this letter in the hopes they will read it.

The first life preserver was thrown to me was here. That is why I will particularly miss it and feel a huge sense of loss of not being able to visit it again.
